Batul Al-Khatib BSc PGCE MSc HCPC

batul Batul completed her Masters level professional training in Educational and Child Psychology at the Tavistock Centre, London in 2005 and was awarded a distinction.  She practices in London within a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service and as an Educational Consultant within schools. 

Batul is an associate at the Tavistock Centre where she teaches on the Educational Psychology training programme and also works as a group facilitator. Batul also trained at the institute of Education, London and is a qualified teacher. She worked as a primary school teacher and mathematics specialist in a London inner city School of Excellence for a number of years.

During her career Batul has accumulated extensive experience of working with children, young people and their families. She is skilled at supporting families who are facing challenges and can help them bring about positive change. She is involved in research into child mental health and well being, presenting at conferences and writing for professional journals. Like Sonia, she is also a parent and combines her working life with bringing up her young family. 



Sonia qualified from Kings College London in 1997 and has worked as a GP and medical educator in South London for over 12 years. In 2004 she completed her Masters degree with a distinction and then worked for 8 years at the London Deanery with postgraduate doctors. In 2013 she joined Imperial College as the Director of Undergraduate Primary Care Education, and is also a part time practising London GP and a busy mum of two little girls.

Over the years Sonia has been involved in a  number of key projects, including training clinicians in facilitation skills and leadership and management training for doctors.  She has years of experience in supporting doctors and patients through periods change and transition. 

Her current interests lie in innovative approaches to teaching, inter professional learning, and using coaching in health settings. She has recently published a paper in the use health coaching and is currently involved in a project at Imperial using health coaching with patients.
